Nihat Demir balances coaching disabled athletes and selling cotton candy

Nihat Demir, a former national wheelchair marathoner from Bursa, Turkey, is balancing two very different roles. After contracting polio at age two, Demir transitioned from using crutches to competing in professional wheelchair marathons, representing Turkey in 26 countries and achieving success in international competitions in cities such as Paris, Seville, and Helsinki.

Following his active athletic career, Demir has spent the last eight years coaching disabled students and athletes. To support his family, he also sells cotton candy from his father's mobile cart in the evenings at Kültürpark.
