Nihon Falcom adopts multiplatform strategy following Trails success
Nihon Falcom is shifting its business strategy toward multiplatform worldwide releases following the success of the 'Trails in the Sky' remake. Previously, the studio focused primarily on PlayStation consoles, but the simultaneous launch of the remake on Steam and Nintendo Switch has demonstrated the potential for broader market reach.
In an interview with ASCII Japan, President and CEO Toshihiro Kondo noted that Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) currently account for the majority of the company’s new players. Kondo explained that while original projects can be difficult to coordinate across platforms due to last-minute script changes, the existing assets of remakes make simultaneous global releases more manageable.
The studio intends to use this multiplatform approach to expand brand awareness and ensure long-term growth by making its titles available on a wider variety of hardware.
