NIHOTOUR and FTAN agree to resolve Act 2022 dispute
The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) and the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) have agreed to resolve disputes regarding the implementation of the NIHOTOUR Act 2022. Following a strategic meeting in Abuja, leadership from both organizations committed to addressing pending litigation and industry disagreements through dialogue, mutual respect, and due process.
In a joint statement, NIHOTOUR Director-General Dr. Abisoye Fagade and FTAN President Dr. Aliyu Badaki emphasized the need for constructive collaboration to professionalize Nigeria’s hospitality, tourism, and travel sectors. NIHOTOUR aims to promote professional standards and accountability, while recognizing FTAN as the essential representative of the organized private sector.
The organizations noted that the tourism industry holds significant potential for job creation, economic diversification, and national development, provided that government institutions and the private sector work together as partners.
