Niigata City to host 6th National Railway Resource Activation Summit

Niigata City will host the 6th National Railway Resource Activation Summit in Niitsu on October 10, 2026. The event is designed to explore how railway resources can be utilized for tourism, urban development, and regional revitalization.

The summit will feature multiple sessions across two main venues: the Niitsu Community Exchange Center and the Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences Niitsu Station East Campus. Programming includes a talk session titled ‘The Railway Town of Niitsu’ featuring various experts, including media personalities and local railway preservation leaders.

Additionally, the event will host the ‘Tekken Exchange Meeting,’ where university railway research clubs from institutions such as Niigata University and Tohoku University will present case studies. The summit aims to evolve from a research group focused on abandoned lines into a platform for practical regional development through railway assets.
