Niigata University of Health and Welfare to host Sports Festa

Niigata University of Health and Welfare will host the “Niigata University of Health and Welfare Sports Festa” on October 11, 2026. The event is designed for toddlers, elementary school students, and their guardians to engage in various physical activities.

University students from specialized clubs will lead sessions in sports such as track and field, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, dance, and ultimate frisbee. In addition to athletic activities, the event will feature health and wellness experiences led by university departments, body care booths from local hospitals and companies, and para-sports demonstrations.

The initiative is part of a project commissioned by the Japan Sports Agency and UNIVAS (University Sports Association) to promote regional revitalization through university sports. It aims to address regional challenges such as declining physical activity among children and a lack of opportunities for citizens to engage in sports. The event will also be held in conjunction with the “Sports Experience Caravan 2026” in collaboration with the Niigata Prefecture Sports Association.
