Nik Storonsky closes $500m fund for QuantumLight
Nik Storonsky, the founder of Revolut, has closed a $500 million second fund for QuantumLight, an algorithmic venture capital firm he co-founded. This new fund is double the size of the firm’s $250 million debut vehicle from the previous year.
QuantumLight utilizes a systematic, data-driven model to screen companies and generate investment decisions quantitatively, rather than relying on the traditional venture capital model of human partners and intuition. The firm’s approach functions more like a quantitative hedge fund, aiming to identify growth-stage companies through large-scale data analysis that traditional funds might overlook.
While the rapid doubling of the fund suggests confidence from limited partners in the algorithmic thesis, the firm remains relatively young and has yet to demonstrate long-term returns that prove data can consistently outperform human instinct in picking winners.
