Nike and NBA unveil Specter Edition uniforms for historic franchises

Nike and the NBA have unveiled the ‘Specter’ Edition uniforms for eight of the league’s oldest franchises, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, and New York Knicks. Unveiled during an event in Brooklyn, the new jerseys utilize smoky, abstract visual motifs, airbrushed gradients, and dark, shadowy foundations to reinterpret team identities through a modern lens.

Alongside the jerseys, Nike is introducing the NBA Standard Issue Collection for the 2026-27 season. This apparel line includes hoodies, pants, t-shirts, and shorts designed with varying levels of minimalism and bold graphics. Ross Klein, Nike Basketball vice president and creative director, stated that the collection aims to celebrate the “attitude, creativity and individuality of today’s hoopers” by combining team identity with modern style.
