Nike faces revenue decline and regional weakness in Q1 FY2027

Nike, Inc. is facing significant financial challenges following its Q1 fiscal year 2027 earnings report. The company reported revenue of $11.2 billion, a 4.2% decrease that missed consensus estimates. Regional performance was uneven, highlighted by a 22% contraction in Greater China and a 5% decline in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. While North America saw 2% growth, the company's direct-to-consumer channel, Nike Direct, fell by 8%, largely due to a 13% drop in digital sales.

Market analysts remain divided on the stock's outlook. Some technical indicators suggest the stock may be oversold after a five-year sell-off that trimmed over 80% of its value, potentially signaling an imminent rebound. However, others maintain a cautious or bearish stance, citing deteriorating fundamentals and persistent underperformance compared to the S&P 500 since April 2024. Analysts from RBC Capital Markets noted that “things are going to get worse before they get better,” warning of potential further declines.
