Nike unveils first 3D‑printed AirWorks sneaker concept

Nike’s AirWorks program, launched to explore 3D‑printed footwear, has produced its first visible concept. Tokyo‑based creative Motoi Hatsuki, known for the Blue Room vintage store, collaborated with German 3D‑printing specialist Zellerfeld to create a single‑piece sneaker that merges the upper and sole. The design echoes the Air Max Tailwind V silhouette, featuring sculpted openings under the forefoot and heel and a neon‑green Air unit in the heel.

Eight designers from cities including Beijing, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, New York, Paris, Shanghai and Tokyo worked at Nike’s Beaverton headquarters, accessing the Air Manufacturing Innovation facility and other design resources. While the prototype is currently unnamed and limited to a friends‑and‑family run, Nike plans to roll out additional concepts over the next year ahead of Air Max Day 2027.
