Nikhil Kamath aims to develop homegrown social media platform

Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath has announced ambitions to enter the media and entertainment sector by developing a new social media platform. Speaking at the NDTV World Summit, Kamath clarified that his interest does not lie in traditional news media, but rather in creating a digital social platform.

Kamath noted that he has been experimenting with different applications and cited China’s model of developing domestic alternatives for social media and e-commerce as a potential path for India. He expressed a desire to build a platform that serves the Indian market while maintaining the capacity to expand to an international audience, rather than being restricted to domestic users.
