Nikšić hosts 23rd Honey Days regional beekeeping exhibition

The 23rd regional Honey Days manifestation was held in Nikšić, bringing together approximately 35 beekeepers from Montenegro and the surrounding region to showcase bee products and exchange experiences.

Participants reported an average season, noting that beekeeping is becoming increasingly difficult due to prolonged droughts and climate change. Despite these challenges, producers expressed satisfaction with the quality of their yields, with some reporting 15 to 18 kilograms per hive. Beekeepers emphasized that Montenegrin honey is of a quality comparable to the best in the world and advocated for stronger state support and branding to improve market positioning.

Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture stated that continued support through Agrobudžet will be provided to strengthen this agricultural sector. Experts at the event highlighted the dual importance of bees as producers of high-quality food and as essential pollinators for sustainable fruit and vegetable agriculture.
