Niki Kerameus highlights Greek unemployment drop to 7.9%

During an event held at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair, Greek Minister of Labor and Social Security Niki Kerameus emphasized the goal of building a society of workers rather than the unemployed. She highlighted that the quarterly unemployment rate has fallen to 7.9%, a figure she noted is the lowest in 18 years.

Gianna Horsova, Administrator of the Public Employment Service (DYPA), reported that the agency has helped 298,000 individuals enter the labor market over the last seven years. Of these, 88,000 positions were focused on gaining work experience, specifically aiding young people in entering the workforce through DYPA's fifty apprenticeship schools.

Mario Nava, Head of the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion at the European Commission, praised DYPA's role in strengthening the labor market through education. Additionally, Antonis Mitzalis of the Avax Group discussed the company's human resources needs and noted a memorandum of cooperation signed between DYPA and Avax Group to enhance professional training and employment.
