Niki Prasad sets world record in T20I debut for India

Niki Prasad became the first female bowler from an ICC Full Member nation to take two wickets with her first two deliveries in a Women’s T20I career. During the second T20I match against Zimbabwe in Raipur, the 20-year-old off-break spinner dismissed Chipo Mugeri-Taripano and Nyasha Gwandanzura in consecutive balls during the 15th over.

Prasad’s performance, which included figures of 2/7 in two overs, helped restrict Zimbabwe to 102 runs. India secured a 9-wicket victory, clinching the three-match series 2-0. In addition to her bowling, Prasad contributed a crucial 35 runs with the bat before her bowling spell.

Prasad previously captained the Indian Under-19 women’s team to the 2024 Asia Cup title and the 2025 Under-19 World Cup.
