Nikšić residents support video surveillance to combat illegal waste dumping

A survey conducted by Portal Onogošt indicates that over 75 percent of participants believe video surveillance can help prevent illegal waste dumping at 17 locations in Nikšić. Specifically, 44.8 percent believe cameras alone will prevent improper disposal, while 30.6 percent argue that cameras will only be effective if accompanied by strict monetary fines.

Nemanja Vuković, director of the Nikšić Public Utility Company, recently announced that cameras have been installed at 17 critical sites. The system will be activated once approval is received from the Agency for Personal Data Protection. Once operational, the Municipal Police will manage the surveillance, allowing them to review footage and sanction those responsible for illegal dumping.

The Public Utility Company also reminded citizens that bulky waste and other types of refuse can be disposed of free of charge at the transfer station located within the Railway premises daily from 09:00 to 21:00.
