Nikita Sheremet wins 50m freestyle gold at European Championships

At the European Aquatics Championships in Paris, Ukrainian swimmer Nikita Sheremet secured the gold medal in the 50m freestyle with a time of 21.13 seconds, setting a new Ukrainian national record. Sheremet, who previously held a personal best of 21.62, outperformed the heavy favorite, Egor Kornev of Russia.

Kornev and Serbia’s Andrej Barna shared the silver medal with identical times of 21.37. The final standings also saw Hungary’s Kristof Milak in fourth place. Additionally, Portuguese swimmer Diogo Ribeiro established a new national record in the event, finishing in 21.59 seconds to share sixth place with Ireland’s Tom Fannon.
