Nikkhil Advani discusses creative inspiration and real-life events

Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani has discussed his creative process and inspirations following the release of his streaming series, ‘The Revolutionaries’. During an interaction with the media, Advani stated that he prefers real-life events over fiction, noting that reality is often more absurd and unpredictable than anything a writer could conceive.

Advani cited the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks as an example of how reality can defy fictional logic, suggesting that the scale of the event would be difficult for audiences to believe if it were purely a scripted scene. He mentioned that the evolving nature of human behavior serves as a primary source of inspiration for his work.

When seeking creative direction, Advani noted that he returns to the works of the legendary screenwriting duo Salim-Javed. ‘The Revolutionaries’ is a series inspired by true events, focusing on Indian freedom fighters such as Rash Behari Bose, Pratibha Lahiri, Sachindra Nath Sanyal, and Bagha Jatin during the struggle against the British Raj.
