Nikki Haley urges Republicans to focus on American voters after midterm losses

Former Governor Nikki Haley has called on the Republican Party to undergo self-reflection following significant losses in the 2026 midterm elections. Appearing on NBC’s Today show, Haley stated that the party should not blame the media, academia, or Hollywood for the results.

Haley argued that Republicans failed because they prioritized Washington, D.C. interests over the concerns of the American people, specifically regarding high costs for groceries, gas, and healthcare. She advised party members to “take our medicine” and focus on voter priorities rather than political infighting.

The Democratic victories in key swing states, including Texas and North Carolina, have ended two years of unified Republican control. This shift grants Democrats the potential to block legislative agendas and launch congressional investigations during President Donald Trump’s second term. Haley also cautioned Democrats against focusing on impeachments, suggesting they must also listen to the electorate to remain successful.
