Nikki Imperial Palace confers traditional titles during Gaani 2026

During the 2026 Gaani celebrations in Nikki, Benin, several high-profile figures received traditional titles from the Imperial Palace of Nikki.

President Romuald Wadagni was elevated to the rank of Prince of the Imperial Court, receiving the title ‘Sounon Torou Touko Sari’, which translates to ‘The Unifying Sovereign’. The distinction was conferred by His Majesty Sero Torou, the Emperor of Nikki, during a protocol meeting at the palace. This event is part of a renewed state-led effort to organize the Gaani festival to enhance cultural visibility and tourism.

Additionally, Togolese Ambassador Johaness Makouvia was enthroned as a ‘Dignitary Prince of the Nikki Imperial Court’ and a ‘Dignitary of Peace and Social Cohesion in Africa’ under the name ‘Gobi Bouin Dooragui’. The recognition honors his long-term commitment to promoting peace, leadership, and African values across the continent.
