Nikki prepares for 2026 Gaani festival celebrations

The Prefect of Borgou, Abdou-Chakour Assouma Naro, conducted an inspection in Nikki on August 19, 2026, to evaluate preparations for the upcoming 2026 Gaani festival. The visit focused on the progress of renovation works along the ritual route used by the Boo, Baatonu, and Fulani communities.

While the Prefect noted encouraging progress on various construction sites, he instructed contractors to accelerate their pace, demanding that all works be completed by August 23, 2026, to ensure the commune is ready for the festivities. During the visit, the delegation also met with His Imperial Majesty Séro Torou Tuko Sari, Emperor of Nikki, to discuss organizational matters and seek blessings for the event. A working session was also held at the Nikki town hall involving representatives from Benin Tourism and local authorities.
