Nikki Sixx and James Hetfield advocate for political neutrality at concerts
Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and Metallica frontman James Hetfield have both expressed a desire to avoid using their concert stages as platforms for political or social agendas.
A viral video of Nikki Sixx shows him addressing a crowd during the band’s ‘Return of the Carnival of Sins’ tour, which concluded in late September. In the clip, Sixx tells the audience, “It does not matter to Mötley Crüe if you’re a Republican. It does not matter to Mötley Crüe if you’re a Democrat,” emphasizing a message of unity by stating that regardless of political affiliation or identity, “we’re all in this together.”
This sentiment mirrors recent comments made by James Hetfield during Metallica’s performances at the Las Vegas Sphere in October. Hetfield addressed the audience by stating that Metallica is not there to influence them with specific agendas, focusing instead on the shared experience of the music and the fans' presence at the show.
