Niklas Süle debuts in German ninth-division football

Former German international and Champions League winner Niklas Süle has made his debut in the ninth-tier Kreisliga for SV Tiefenbach. Following his professional retirement three months ago after leaving Borussia Dortmund, the 30-year-old transitioned from his traditional role as a central defender to playing in midfield and attack.

In his debut match against SG Kirchardt, Süle scored a header in the 75th minute to bring the score to 2-6, but his team ultimately suffered a heavy 2-7 defeat. The match, played in 32-degree heat before approximately 500 spectators, drew significant attention, with many fans gathering to request autographs and selfies.

Süle stated he joined the club to play alongside close friends and to experience football away from the commercial pressures of the professional game. SV Tiefenbach coach Jason Walzel noted that Süle had only participated in three training sessions prior to the match.
