Niko Kovac clarifies striker hierarchy at Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac has addressed the dissatisfaction of striker Fábio Silva regarding his role within the team. Following a goal scored as a substitute in the Supercup against FC Bayern München, the 24-year-old Portuguese player expressed a desire for more starting appearances and left his future at the club open.

Kovac responded by clarifying the current hierarchy, stating that Serhou Guirassy remains the team’s number one striker while Silva is viewed as the challenger. During his first season at Dortmund, Silva scored four goals in 40 competitive matches. Guirassy is expected to start in Dortmund’s upcoming season opener against HSV.
