Nikola Jokic aims to sign extension with Denver Nuggets next summer
Nikola Jokic has expressed his intention to remain with the Denver Nuggets, aiming to sign a long-term extension next summer. The three-time NBA MVP indicated that waiting until next year would allow him to pursue a five-year supermax contract potentially worth between $350 million and $360 million.
Jokic emphasized that his decision is driven by a desire for legacy, citing Stephen Curry’s commitment to the Golden State Warriors as a model. He noted his history with the franchise, having been drafted by Denver in 2014 and leading them to their first NBA championship in 2023.
While the delay in signing has caused some concern among the fanbase, Jokic reassured the organization and supporters of his commitment, stating, “I’ve been more than clear about this. I hope they trust me.” The Nuggets' front office has also indicated they share his long-term outlook.
