Nikola Katić reflects on early career struggles and Edin Džeko
Footballer Nikola Katić has shared insights into his professional journey, recalling the difficult financial and logistical conditions at the start of his career. Playing for NK Neretvanac in the Croatian third league approximately 12 years ago, Katić noted that his monthly salary was less than 150 euros, which he considered a significant amount at the time. He also described having to hitchhike to training sessions due to his parents' limited availability.
Katić, who currently plays for Schalke 04, also spoke about his close relationship with teammate Edin Džeko. He described Džeko as a mentor and a close friend, praising the striker's professional achievements and suggesting that Džeko would make an excellent sporting director in the future due to his experience, linguistic skills, and professional connections.
