Nikola Ristić alleges Siniša Mali organized Savamala demolitions
Nikola Ristić, the former head of Belgrade's Communal Police, has provided testimony regarding the 2016 illegal demolitions in the Savamala neighborhood. Ristić claims that the then-Mayor of Belgrade, Siniša Mali, organized the operation and personally instructed him to facilitate the demolitions in the Belgrade Waterfront zone.
Ristić further alleged that the operation involved high-level coordination, describing it as a “state project” decided at a level above the city administration. He identified several individuals as being present or involved on the ground, including the former head of the Belgrade Police, Veselin Milić, co-owners of Millennium Team, and members of the Veljko Belivuk criminal group.
The former official noted that the area being demolished was economically active and not abandoned at the time of the incident. While Ristić acknowledged his awareness of the coordination, he stated that the decision-making process occurred at a higher institutional level.
