Nikola Tsolov to compete in Japan's Super Formula per Red Bull plan

Red Bull has adjusted its development plan for Bulgarian driver Nikola Tsolov, opting to delay his Formula 1 debut in favor of gaining experience in Japan's Super Formula championship next season.

Reports indicate that Red Bull intends to utilize the Super Formula series—which features competitive single-seater cars using the SF23 chassis—to prepare Tsolov for the high speeds and pressure of elite racing. This strategy follows a similar path taken by previous drivers like Liam Lawson and Esteban Ocon.

In addition to competing in Japan, Tsolov is expected to serve as a reserve driver for the main Red Bull team. This dual role is designed to integrate him into the team environment while providing a pathway toward a potential full-time Formula 1 seat by 2028.
