Nikolas Ferreira rejects negotiations with Alexandre de Moraes

Nikolas Ferreira, the most voted federal deputy in Brazilian history with over 3.1 million votes, has declared that there will be no negotiations with Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes. Ferreira, representing the Liberal Party (PL) from Minas Gerais, has intensified calls for the impeachment and arrest of Moraes, accusing him of violating human rights and acting above the Constitution.

Ferreira's massive vote count has also significantly benefited the Liberal Party's presence in the Chamber of Deputies. In Minas Gerais, 15 of the 16 deputies elected with the lowest vote counts belong to the PL. This phenomenon is attributed to the proportional voting system, where Ferreira's record-breaking individual total helped secure seats for several colleagues with much lower individual counts.

Additionally, the PL party achieved a record of 28 senators, a composition that the party expects will facilitate the impeachment of Supreme Court ministers starting in 2027.
