Nikon announces firmware 2.00 for Nikon ZR camera
Nikon has announced firmware version 2.00 for the Nikon ZR, a full-frame camera in the Z CINEMA series. This marks the first major update for the device since its launch. The firmware is expected to be released before the end of the year.
Key technical enhancements include support for Log3G10 gamma when recording in the H.265 format, which allows users to utilize the REDWideGamutRGB color gamut with reduced file sizes. The update also introduces the ability to select from four levels of High ISO Noise Reduction (NR) when shooting in Log3G10 or N-Log.
For improved monitoring and workflow, the update adds focus peaking support when recording in R3D NE format with a 3D LUT applied, and allows users to apply a 3D LUT to the HDMI output. Additionally, Nikon has increased customization options by allowing more functions, such as ISO sensitivity, exposure settings, and white balance, to be assigned to command dials and function buttons. Nikon also reported updated processing to suppress frame-by-frame black level fluctuations, aiming to reduce flicker in low-light conditions.
