Nikos Christodoulides highlights prospects for Cyprus's primary sector

President Nikos Christodoulides has expressed optimism regarding the primary sector in Cyprus, stating that there are ‘huge prospects’ for the industry. Speaking to journalists while attending an agricultural culture festival in Protaras, the President noted that young people are returning to the sector after being informed of its potential, resulting in a mass response.

Christodoulides emphasized a two-pronged government strategy: informing the youth about the opportunities within the primary sector and moving beyond merely reacting to challenges like foot-and-mouth disease or water supply issues. He stated that the government aims to take a proactive role in encouraging the younger generation to engage with the industry.

The President highlighted the importance of the region to Cyprus's GDP and reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting young people who wish to pursue careers in the primary sector, aiming to reverse the downward trend observed over the last 20 to 30 years.
