Nikos Hardalias calls for increased female participation to strengthen Europe
During the EPP Women Autumn Academy held in Athens, Nikos Hardalias, the Governor of Attica, emphasized that increasing female participation in politics and the economy is a necessary prerequisite for a stronger United Europe. He described women as a ‘power multiplier’ for society and linked gender equality to the core European model of human dignity, freedom, and the rule of law.
Hardalias highlighted specific institutional actions taken by the Attica Region to promote equality, including the establishment of a Regional Committee for Gender Equality and the signing of the revised European Charter for Equality between Women and Men in Local Communities. The region also focuses on funding social structures to support victims of violence and utilizing European resources to promote female entrepreneurship.
