Nikos Karvelas revokes music rights management amid dispute with Anna Vissi
A public dispute between songwriter Nikos Karvelas and singer Anna Vissi has led to significant professional consequences. Following a disagreement regarding compensation from a major concert at OAKA, Karvelas has taken the radical step of revoking the authority of his previous management body, Autodiaspefsi, to manage the rights for the live performance of his works.
Moving forward, any performer, concert organizer, or nightclub owner wishing to use his songs must negotiate directly with Karvelas. This shift has already impacted the upcoming season, with several performers removing his songs from their repertoires to avoid licensing complexities. Artists including Sakis Rouvas, Katerina Staniisi, Lefteris Pantazis, Lambis Livieratos, and Antypas are reportedly expected to seek direct permission to perform his music in nightlife venues.
The rift has also halted a collaborative musical project between the two artists, which had previously completed four tracks but has now been officially canceled.
