Nikos Moutsinas discusses shift away from television satire

Greek television presenter Nikos Moutsinas discussed his current professional status and his decision to move away from commentary-based programming during an appearance on the show ‘Happy Day’.

Moutsinas expressed satisfaction with his role hosting the game show ‘Lingo’ on Star Channel, noting that the structured nature of the production allows him a more relaxed schedule compared to previous work. He stated that he does not closely monitor television ratings.

Regarding his departure from satirical or commentary-driven shows, Moutsinas indicated a shift in his perspective following the Tempi train accident. He remarked that his comedy and commentary style, which was previously his primary focus, no longer feels appropriate given the current social climate. He suggested that since the Covid-19 pandemic, the nature of social reality has made satire more difficult, noting, “It is no longer something funny, unfortunately.”
