Nikos Sofianos attributes Greek economic hardship to political choices

Nikos Sofianos, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), stated that current economic hardships in Greece, including high inflation and low wages, are the result of strategic political choices rather than merely imported factors.

Speaking on ERTNews, Sofianos argued that Greece’s adherence to European Union fiscal stability pacts, energy market agreements, and sanctions against Russia contributes to the economic burden on the Greek people. He criticized the country's involvement in international conflicts, specifically mentioning the war in Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East, claiming these are conflicts between competing powers rather than struggles for democracy. He asserted that the Greek population bears a significant cost for these geopolitical alignments.
