Nil Gimeno wins first professional stage at Tour de Langkawi
Nil Gimeno secured his first professional cycling victory during the seventh stage of the 2026 Tour de Langkawi. Representing team Kern Pharma, the 22-year-old Spaniard led a breakaway group that successfully resisted the chasing peloton over the 158.9-kilometer course from Melaka to Batu Pahat.
After a breakaway group of several riders established a significant lead, the front group was eventually reduced to four riders: Gimeno, Mario Aparicio, Andrei Stepanov, and Adne van Engelen. Gimeno won the stage via a sprint in the final 200 meters, finishing with a time of 3:12:33. Aparicio took second place, followed by Stepanov in third.
Despite the stage result, the general classification remains unchanged. German rider Lennart Jasch maintains the overall lead, holding a 26-second advantage over Abel Balderstone.
