NILDS holds leadership course in Morocco to prepare for 2027 elections

The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) has launched an international executive leadership course in Marrakech, Morocco, to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions. The four-day program, organized by the Centre for Advanced Executive Education Programme (CAEEP), focuses on strategic leadership and institutional readiness for legislative excellence.

NILDS Director-General Professor Abubakar O. Sulaiman emphasized that the training is intended to prepare the Governing Council and National Assembly members for emerging challenges, including technological advancements, artificial intelligence, and complex security issues. Sulaiman noted that the quality of decisions made by the Council impacts the nation’s capacity to manage democratic development, particularly as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Senator Victor Umeh attended the session representing the President of the Senate and Chairman of the NILDS Governing Council, Senator Godswill Akpabio. The initiative aims to move beyond conventional leadership models to ensure institutions can anticipate and shape future changes rather than merely reacting to them.
