Nile Kron, former University of Iowa Kid Captain, dies at age 9

Nile Kron, a 9-year-old boy and former University of Iowa Kid Captain, has died following an ATV accident. Kron was a long-term patient at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, where he was born prematurely and faced numerous medical challenges, including scoliosis and hearing loss.

Kron was recognized as a Kid Captain for his resilience and his connection to the University of Iowa community. In his honor, Hoover Elementary in Iowa City will hold a recognition event where students wear black and gold to celebrate his love for the Hawkeyes.
