Nile Ranger details physical fight with Andros Townsend

Former Newcastle United prospect Nile Ranger has revealed details of a physical altercation with Andros Townsend during their time with the England U19 national team in Ukraine.

Speaking on the ‘Undr the Cosh’ podcast, Ranger alleged that the tension began after a disagreement regarding playing time and preparation. The conflict escalated during breakfast when Ranger claimed Townsend spat into his pasta. This led to a physical brawl upstairs, during which Ranger stated he ‘crashed’ Townsend, causing his head to hit a bin. Teammate Kyle Walker reportedly attempted to intervene to stop the fight.

Ranger noted that Townsend later apologized, citing the pressure and frustration of not playing as the cause of his behavior. Ranger’s professional career was previously marked by various off-field disciplinary and legal issues.
