Nile Specialized Hospital in Aswan Performs First Advanced Cardiac Interventions

The Nile Specialized Hospital in Aswan successfully carried out ten advanced cardiac catheterisation procedures, marking the first use of the Micro‑IVL shock‑wave technology and the Rotablator rotational atherectomy system in any hospital of Egypt's General Authority for Health Care. The team also performed five chronic total occlusion (CTO) treatments and two intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging cases, bringing the total of complex interventions in the region to eleven since Aswan joined the comprehensive health‑insurance network.

Dr. Ahmed Al‑Sabki, head of the General Authority for Health Care, said the achievements demonstrate the authority’s strategy to localise cutting‑edge medical technologies in Upper Egypt, allowing patients to receive world‑class heart‑treatment locally without travelling to other governorates. The initiative aims to improve health‑care equity and raise the quality of services for insurance beneficiaries across the region.
