Medical advancements and early detection focus in breast cancer care

Medical professionals and health organizations in Turkey are highlighting advancements in breast cancer treatment and the critical importance of early diagnosis. In Muğla, a scientific program led by Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University facilitated the first bilateral endoscopic nipple-sparing mastectomy at Muğla Training and Research Hospital, a minimally invasive technique that preserves the nipple-areola complex.

Experts are also promoting modern surgical methods to improve patient comfort, including single-port robotic surgery, which offers high-definition visualization and smaller incisions, as well as endoscopic and oncoplasty techniques.

Public awareness campaigns, such as those organized by the Turkish Cancer Association and Nilüfer Municipality, emphasize that early detection can lead to nearly 100% treatment success. Case studies from Bursa illustrate the impact of regular screenings, where early-stage cancer was detected through self-examination and routine mammography, allowing for rapid intervention and successful recovery.
