Nilüfer Municipality opens stray animal center in Bursa

Nilüfer Municipality has established the Umut Ağacı Stray Animal Natural Life and Adoption Center in the Karacaoba neighborhood of Bursa. Spanning 49,500 square meters, the facility is designed to provide a natural living environment for up to 3,000 stray animals.

The center focuses on high standards of animal welfare, featuring specialized ground structures, shaded areas, observation points, and spaces for animals to hide or escape. To ensure scientific management of medical services, the municipality has signed a protocol with the Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. This partnership will support diagnosis, treatment, sterilization, vaccination, and rehabilitation processes through academic expertise.

As part of a symbolic adoption initiative, citizens who adopt an animal from the center can tie a 'Hope Ribbon' to a designated tree on the premises to commemorate the animal's new home.
