NIMASA pledges globally competitive maritime administration and enhanced seafarer welfare
Director General Dr. Dayo Mobereola of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to building an efficient, transparent and globally competitive maritime administration. Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Alumni Association of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (AMANO) led by President Emmanuel Maiguwa, Mobereola highlighted reforms aligned with the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, including the electronic platform for issuing seafarers’ certificates that improves efficiency and accessibility.
In a separate meeting, NIMASA hosted the Chairman of the Mission to Seafarers (MtS) Lagos, Chief Adebayo Sarumi, and the Regional Director for Africa, Reverend Cedric Rautenbach. The agencies discussed deeper collaboration to improve the welfare, certification processes and professional development of Nigerian seafarers. Executive Director of Operations Fatai Taiye Adeyemi emphasized continued policies for capacity development, decent working conditions and support services for seafarers at sea and in port.
