NiMet forecasts thunderstorms and rain across Nigeria
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting cloudy conditions, thunderstorms, and varying levels of rainfall across Nigeria from Monday through Wednesday.
In the northern region, morning cloud patches are expected to give way to thunderstorms and moderate rain in the afternoon and evening. The North-Central region, including the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger, and Plateau states, is also expected to experience isolated thunderstorms and moderate rainfall.
Southern states, including Ebonyi, Enugu, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, may see light rain in the morning followed by more widespread moderate rainfall later in the day. NiMet has advised residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas to remain alert, cautioned against driving through flooded roads, and recommended disconnecting electrical appliances during thunderstorms due to the risk of strong winds.
