Australian pole vaulter Nina Kennedy breaks national record at Monaco Diamond League

Nina Kennedy cleared 4.95 m at the Monaco Diamond League, setting a new Australian and Oceania record and posting the best women's pole‑vault mark worldwide in the past five years. The jump moved her to fifth on the all‑time list and secured the event victory.

Kennedy said the performance reflected her peak condition and technical readiness, and she set her sights on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where she will defend her title. She celebrated the win with fellow West Australian Kurtis Marschall, who took bronze with a 5.85 m jump.

Other Australian athletes featured in Monaco included Mackenzie Little (fifth in the women’s javelin) and Daniel Williams (competitor in the 1000 m).
