Nina Warken appointed head of Germany's Federal Chancellery

Nina Warken, a 48‑year‑old CDU politician, has been installed as the new chief of the Federal Chancellery (ChefinBK) in Berlin. In her first staff move, she named Georg Milde – formerly head of the leadership department at the Federal Ministry of Health – as her chief of staff within the Kanzleramt. The reshuffle also saw Stefan Schmidt, who previously led the Chancellery’s office, become the faction director of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, while Tobias Pohl takes over the health ministry’s leadership department.

Warken’s appointment marks the first time a woman has held the top organisational post in the Chancellor’s Office, and she is expected to steer the administration under Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
