Nine Arrested in Gargano Mafia Murder Case in Foggia Province

Nine individuals were detained in the early hours of 6 July 2026 in the province of Foggia, Italy, on suspicion of participating in three mafia‑related homicides that occurred in Manfredonia and Mattinata between 2011 and 2016. The arrests were carried out by the Carabinieri ROS, supported by the provincial command of Foggia, the "Cacciatori Puglia" helicopter squadron and the Central Protection Service, following a coordinated investigation by the regional anti‑mafia directorate.

The victims were killed as part of the long‑standing Gargano feud, a violent rivalry between the Romito‑Lombardi‑Ricucci clan and the opposing Li Bergolis faction. Three of the detained have previous convictions for mafia association under the ROS "Omnia Nostra" probe; four are already serving sentences, while the remaining two are still awaiting trial. Evidence includes intercepted communications, video recordings, and testimonies from justice collaborators. A press conference by the Bari anti‑mafia prosecutor and the Foggian public prosecutor is scheduled to detail the operation.
