Ogun road crash kills nine people
Nine people, including three males and six females, were killed in a road crash along the Ijebu-Ode/Ore Express Road in Ogun State. The accident occurred at approximately 4:55 p.m. in the Bethel area during rainfall.
The collision involved a white Toyota Hiace commercial bus belonging to Delta Line and a white Sino Truck belonging to Bill Gas Solution Ltd. Preliminary investigations by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) identified speeding as the probable cause of the accident, noting that the wet road surface likely contributed to the severity of the crash.
FRSC rescue teams arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. The deceased were transported to the General Hospital Morgue in Ijebu-Ode, and the involved vehicles were towed to the Ilese Police Station. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, maintain safe following distances, and obey speed limits, particularly during rainy weather when visibility and tyre grip are reduced.
