Nine Queensland to list Mount Coot-tha studios for sale

Nine Queensland is preparing to list its Mount Coot-tha television studios for sale via Savills to gauge market interest. The facility on Sir Samuel Griffith Drive has been in operation since 1959 and serves as the broadcast site for the network’s flagship nightly news program.

Managing director Kylie Blucher stated in an internal email that the company’s needs have changed significantly since the site opened. The sale is a preliminary step to help Nine explore options for a unified future home in Queensland, though any relocation will depend on economic feasibility.

Brisbane City Council is currently developing a new master plan for Mount Coot-tha. Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner noted that the council is planning for a future where television stations may leave the area, presenting opportunities to renew and reimagine existing built-on sites without impacting bushland.
