Nine Siena football fans arrested with weapons before Grosseto supporters' return

On the afternoon of 29 July 2026, Italian Carabinieri from the local station in Siena and the Poggibonsi company intervened near the municipal sports field in Badesse, Monteriggioni. They identified a group of nine individuals, including a minor, believed to be members of the organised Siena Calcio supporters.

The suspects had positioned their cars along the route that supporters of Grosseto were to take after a friendly match, apparently preparing to confront them. A vehicle search uncovered eight iron batons, knives, cutters, helmets, balaclavas and scarves that could be used to conceal identity. The nine were charged with illegal possession of weapons and objects intended to offend during a sporting event. The case was forwarded to the Siena public prosecutor, with possible DASPO restrictions to be considered.
