Nine-year-old girl dies after motocross crash near Oberon

A nine-year-old girl has died following a serious motocross crash at a motorbike park in Jerrong, located approximately 65 kilometres south of Oberon.

The incident occurred around 12pm on Saturday, August 8, 2026, involving two motorcycles. Emergency responders from the Chifley Police District and NSW Ambulance, including an aeromedical rescue helicopter, attended the scene. Paramedics treated the girl for serious head injuries before she was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in critical condition.

Police confirmed that the child passed away in the hospital on Wednesday, August 12. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
