Ninety One achieves 51.3 per cent return in Asia Pacific strategy
Ninety One, a global asset manager, has reported a 51.3 per cent return over the past year for its Asia Pacific ex Japan strategy. Managed by Charlie Linton, the fund utilizes a contrarian approach that combines quantitative analysis with behavioral psychology to identify undervalued assets.
Key drivers of the fund's performance include a 650 per cent return from Chinese consumer stock Pop Mart and a return exceeding 1000 per cent from South Korean semiconductor firm SK Hynix. The fund also saw a 150 per cent surge from LG Electronics in a three-week period.
Looking forward, the fund maintains high-conviction positions in South Korean industrial firm HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Thailand’s Kasikornbank, and Australian gold miner Northern Star Resources. The fund recently exited its position in Rio Tinto following a 56 per cent return.
